Where do Pina Bausch and the ZDF hit parade overlap in terms of their nation-building character? After PLAYBLACK (2020), DEUTSCHES MUSEUM FÜR SCHWARZE UNTERHALTUNG UND BLACK MUSIC (2022) and COLONASTICS (2024), the newly crowned Tabori Award winner Joana Tischkau presents her latest dance theater performance at Kampnagel with ICH NEHM DIR ALLES WEG - EIN SCHLAGERBALLETT. Inspired by the subtitle of the early Pina Bausch work "Ich bring Dich um die Ecke. Schlagerballett" (1974) and the Pina Bausch company itself as perhaps the biggest export hit of German "high culture", Tischkau and her team dissect the German home narrative. In the tradition of black German pop stars such as Roberto Blanco, Randolph Rose, Marie Nejar and Tina Daute, the performers dance and sing their way to an aesthetic Germanness that makes sense regardless of whiteness and heteronormativity. With ICH NEHM DIR ALLES WEG, Tischkau continues her artistic research into Black German cultural history by working on the unlikely yet plausible matrix of Germany - showbiz - white supremacy.
