The renowned Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra (JSO), based in Jerusalem, Israel, has a long and eventful history. The JSO has played a decisive role in the cultural development of the State of Israel. Outstanding conductors, composers and soloists have considered it a great honor to come to the Holy Land to work with the JSO, including Igor Stravinsky, Leonard Bernstein, Arthur Rubinstein, Yehudi Menuhin, Mstislav Rostropovich and many more. The JSO regularly tours Europe and the United States and has performed in concert halls such as the Vienna Musikverein, the Philharmonie in Cologne and Carnegie Hall in New York. In addition to classical orchestral concerts, the JSO strives to create an all-encompassing "Sound of Jerusalem" and to act as a cultural ambassador for the city around the world. To this end, it organizes multi-religious music festivals, builds cultural bridges and establishes a global youth network.

In 2023, at the start of its 85th anniversary celebrations, Lithuanian conductor and violinist Julian Rachlin was appointed as the JSO's new Chief Conductor. Rachlin is acclaimed for his spirited and sensitive interpretations, his commitment to music education and his humanitarian efforts. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the title "UNESCO Artist for Peace" and the "Jascha Heifetz Prize". The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Julian Rachlin, is making its first guest appearance at Pro Arte and will provide an unforgettable evening of music.
