Is inheritance fair?

A fast-paced comedy about the two extremes of the social distribution debate: unemployment benefit and wealth tax.

In Germany, up to 400 billion euros are inherited every year. What would happen if this money was radically redistributed? "Jeeps" catapults four characters into the scenario of an inheritance law reform - and thus into the middle of a passionate exchange of blows and personal conflict. How do the socially claimed fairness of performance and equality of opportunity relate to actual social inequality? How do we navigate between our own principles of solidarity and our cherished financial security?

The job center of all places is chosen to implement the reform: it now also manages assets and inheritances. The text thus focuses on the two extremes of the social distribution debate at the same time: How much money secures our existence? And who gives something away and when?

With this play, author and director Nora Abdel-Maksoud addresses a deep social need for security. She deals with the structural conditions of a society in which class differences are simultaneously effective and negated. Abdel-Maksoud dissects our thoughts and actions on the basis of account balances, wills and perceived threats with a biting edge, black humor and precision.
