Jazz meets Hannover Baroque

In the organizer's words:

This year's JazzArt Ensemble presents an absolutely unusual line-up for modern jazz: Theorbo, harpsichord and viola da gamba, alongside voice, saxophone and drums, form just one part of the diverse range of instruments with which the sextet led by artistic director Ulli Orth brings exclusive original compositions by the ensemble members to the stage for an exciting concert evening.

Inspired by influences from the Hanoverian musical tradition since Handel and Steffani, they create extraordinary sounds and grooves that span epochal boundaries and offer a joy of experimentation with extensive improvisational elements.

The concert in the Cavallo, the royal riding hall in Dragonerstraße in Hanover, promises a musical experience in a class of its own, which will not only appeal to jazz lovers and friends of classical music, but also to anyone interested in music with an open ear for the fine and the new.

The concert will be recorded on video. It will serve as a prototype for a Lower Saxony tour next year
