Jazz Bar Special: Listen To The Music Of … Joe Henderson

Tonight we dedicate 4 hours to the legacy of saxophonist Joe Henderson, and boy oh boy! Where do we start? It would be easiest with the Blue Note albums, i.e. chronoligsch, after all, his Blue Note albums are also the best known. But is fame an indication of uniqueness? Dunno!

But please don't get me wrong, they are great albums with absolute hits: Page One with the killer number: Blue Bossa (Blue Note, 1963), In 'N Out, which is a permanent hit for me! and then El Barrio, released on Inner Urge (Blue Note, 1966): I freak out every time!

But then, from 1968, and that's the theme of the evening, it starts with Tetagron: The Milestone Years: 12 albums in 11 years on the Californian label: Milestone! For me, Hendeson's most exciting albums! Including masterpieces such as Power to The People (1969), Canyon Lady (1975) or Elements (1974) with harpist Alice Coltrane, one of my absolute favorite albums!

From hard bop to soul, modal and spiritual jazz!
