"The film doesn't tell, it shows! The director succeeds in creating a clever, nuanced work of art in which screenplay, acting, camera and editing intertwine perfectly," said the jury, explaining why Eva Trobisch was awarded the DEFA Foundation's Heiner Carow Prize at the Berlinale 2024. Following her promising debut Alles ist gut (2018), Eva Trobisch directed her second feature film IVO (D 2024). The film's title character - played by Minna Wündrich - works as an outpatient palliative care nurse. Living and dying are part of her everyday life. A patient is her best friend. Should she help her die? "Precise observation of everyday working life creates a psychogram of a woman who, fortunately, is not staged as a heroine or victim. The movie challenges its audience. Its strength lies in the immediacy of the staging, which seems to be taken directly from life", the jury's statement continued - a haunting film experience.
