After separating from her partner, Constanze moves into a shared flat with Jörg, Anke and Murat. What was initially intended as a temporary solution turns out to be increasingly stable. There is Jörg, who owns the apartment and is planning a big trip; Anke, who as a middle-aged actress is hardly ever booked and is suddenly no longer the only woman in the flat share; and Murat, who simply doesn't want to worry and whose zest for life has a rousing and sometimes enervating effect on the others. As a newcomer, Constanze ensures that the previous structure shifts considerably. All four have their own dreams and aspirations and at some point have to face the question of whether they are a purely functional shared flat or a family of choice.

Isabel Bogdan, born in Cologne in 1968, studied English and Japanese studies in Heidelberg and Tokyo. Her first book, "Sachen machen", was published by Rowohlt in 2011, and she has also written short stories in anthologies. In 2006 she received the Hamburg Prize for Literary Translation and in 2011 the Prize for Literature. Her bestselling novel "Der Pfau" was published in 2016 and "Laufen" in 2019.
