Charles Baumstark: [Dis/re]-connecting for ensemble, electronics & video installation

[Dis/re]-connecting tells the story of The Woman, a character who withdraws into isolation after feeling completely overwhelmed by her communication device. At first, this escape feels peaceful, almost like a ritual - a chance to switch off and find peace. But over time, the loneliness begins to weigh on her, and she begins to realize that connection is a deep, essential part of her life.

Throughout the performance, video projections unfold as tableaux animés, illustrating the woman's inner journey through abstract images that embody both her calm reflections and her intense cognitive dissonance. This visual narrative reflects her constant back and forth between withdrawal and the need for connection.
