In Shrews' Shoes is an autofictional performance that deals with female* socialization in the working class, transgenerational obsession with control and cleanliness and obsessive-compulsive disorders.
Based on a personal, queer-feminist examination of practices of control and (self-)domestication of the body, it raises the question of how experienced or inherited traumas and care work define the female* role.
Based on the figure of the mega-era as an alternative to the desirable, heteronormative image of women, who embodies a non-romanticized version of care work, the artist Cochon de Cauchemar [they/sie/es], alias her alter ego Nympho-Ménage, examines the private sphere as an ambivalent place of realization and alienation and, through exaggeration, sarcasm and absurdity, encourages the audience to take a stance and question their own manifested images of the body, sexuality and gender.
ContinuRingRing is the new work-in-progress format of the Berlin Ringtheater. It enables artists to further develop an existing idea or research and bring it to the stage in a show. With ContinuRingRing, the Ringtheater aims to support artists in their creative process and establish opportunities for exchange and feedback.
