In the organizer's words:
When dealing with the crimes of National Socialism, meeting contemporary witnesses is a special experience.
The last contemporary witnesses never tire of sharing their memories with future generations. Their commitment serves as a reminder to us, as their stories are an important part of our cultural memory.
The exhibition "In Echt? - Virtuelle Begegnung mit NS-Zeitzeug:innen" shows one possible way in which virtual eyewitness interviews can preserve the stories of survivors and fill the gap when there are no more eyewitnesses.
At the Brandenburg Museum, visitors will have the opportunity to get to know the future of remembrance with "In Echt?" and find a personal answer to the following questions:
- Can virtual encounters enable an empathic, individual and emotional approach to Nazi history?
- What can the use of modern media in remembrance work possibly not preserve?
