The framework of rule-governed understanding and community coexistence is fragile: consideration and decency are all too quickly undermined, revealing the horror that lies behind them. In this physical theater piece, the first round begins at the dining table, which transforms into a table for playing, judging and negotiating. With a good dash of toxic masculinity, a group of four exposes the rigor with which dissenters have to conform using gestures of good manners, proverbs and the German Basic Law. There is arguing, kissing, apologizing and murder. One person says: All's well that ends well. Then the others: All's well that ends well.

"in decent times" was created in 2019 as a co-production between Maschinenhaus Essen and the FULL SPIN Physical Theatre Festival in Essen.

We recommend a visit to the performance for everyone aged 14 and over. Educational theater material is available for this production.
