In Conversation: Thomas Demand

In the organizer's words:

Thomas Demand's works move between sculpture and photography, illusion and image, fiction and reality: press photos or iconic images of high and pop culture are modeled by the artist from paper and cardboard; the large-format scenes are photographed and the model subsequently destroyed. As part of the European Month of Photography Berlin, we talk to the artist about his working methods, the selection of his motifs and which images currently fascinate him.

Thomas Demand's works have been shown in numerous solo exhibitions, including The Israel Museum, Jerusalem (2023); Fondation Azzedine Alaïa, Paris (2023); Jeu de Paume, Paris (2023); Museum of Contemporary Art, Toronto (2022); Centro Botín, Santander (2021); Fondazione Prada, Venice (2017).
