In the beautiful Salzkammergut region, head waiter Leopold is in trouble: his boss, the tomboyish "Rössl" landlady, has taken a fancy to him. But it takes the Emperor to bring about a happy ending!

At the end of the 1920s, director and producer Erik Charell commissioned an adaptation of the old Berlin comedy "Im weißen Rössl" into a frivolous and comical mixture of swing, operetta and revue. Ralph Benatzky and he put together a colorful score from their own and historical material as well as interludes by famous contemporary pop composers, with titles such as "Mein Liebeslied muss ein Walzer sein", "Die ganze Welt ist himmelblau" or "Was kann der Sigismund dafür, dass er so schön ist", and landed a sensational success at the premiere in 1930 in Berlin's Großes Schauspielhaus, on whose tracks the play, which has long since become a cult, continues to gallop unchecked to this day!
