In the organizer's words:

On January 2, 1492, Muhammad XII. Boabdil, the last Moorish ruler of Granada, handed the keys to the city of Granada to Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabella of Castile as an admission of defeat. For almost 800 years, the experiment of "Al Andalus" - the peaceful coexistence of the three monotheistic religions - had endured on the Iberian Peninsula. With singers, guest musicians and his vocal and instrumental ensemble Orpheus XXI NRW, singer and ensemble director Rebal Alkhodari now offers insights into the rich culture and music of this time, which influenced Jews, Muslims and Christians alike, in this premiere.
