The endless expanse of the Tuvan steppe opens up as soon as Huun-Huur-Tu plays the first notes. From this remote region in the southern part of Siberia, the musicians are drawn out into the world to make the Tuvan musical tradition known and at the same time fill it with new life. The legendary band has been shaping the traditional sounds of their homeland for over 20 years. The musicians around founding member Sayan Bapa masterfully combine traditional overtone and throat singing with modern arrangements. Collaborations such as with the Bulgarian Voices or Frank Zappa constantly bring new aspects to the music. Accompanied by traditional instruments such as the shaman drum or tuyug (horse hooves), their sounds sometimes transport the listener into a meditative and hypnotic world.
