Folk and the pulsating zeitgeist of urban life form the musical identity of the band HUMMING BEE. Their debut album Cheerful Sounds reflects this from the first to the last note. It grooves, it is spherical, sometimes light, sometimes heavy. Their music is inviting, direct and easy on the ear, full of subtleties and sonic surprises - something for the stomach and the head. The band members got to know each other at the Lübeck University of Music, where creativity and passion brought them together.

Through the musical friendship, a personal friendship has also developed between the members, which can be felt in every moment on stage since the band was founded at the end of 2014. In the course of producing their first album, the band came together to form its final line-up of eight musicians. Their musical collaboration results in songs of dynamic dramaturgy - a creative interplay of varied instrumentation and vocal lyricism. Although composed with intellect and depth, their music is straightforward, uncomplicated and honest. She seeks a personal path to the listener without detours or digressions.

The timbres of HUMMING BEE are as varied as the emotions, sometimes characterized by the banjo, sometimes by the brass section, sometimes by the gripping rhythm section. Here and there, synthesizer sounds creep in, opening up a new dimension, as do polyphonic choral movements. All this - combined with creative and profound lyrics - results in HUMMING BEE's warm and atmospheric folk-pop with its special charisma and energetic aura. In short, HUMMING BEE makes music that can do many things: make you think, make you dream, euphorize you to dance. Once you've discovered this likeable band from Lübeck, either live or on record, you won't be able to let go of them any time soon.
