In the organizer's words:

"Actually, the doctor has forbidden us any excitement".

Sherlock Holmes and John Watson had imagined being retired detectives would be easier. Instead of continuing to live in the vibrant metropolis, they retired to a tranquil London suburb. In the long run, however, beekeeping and writing are no satisfying substitute for exciting criminal hunts.

So it's just as well that a burglary in the neighborhood disturbs the idyll. Despite their various ailments, Sherlock and John eagerly take up the investigation. But the next generation - represented by Sherlock's nephew Scott and John's granddaughter Emily - also get involved.

An old photograph raises numerous questions: does it merely show a harmless election campaign event or does it hold a clue to a crime that took place 40 years ago?

Jacqueline Meintzinger's live radio play transports literature's most famous detective team to the present day. In the best "odd couple" style, Holmes and Watson amusingly bicker their way through an exciting case.

Jacqueline Meintzinger is the author of Sherlock Holmes radio plays. Holmes & Watson - Detectives on the Verge of Retirement" is her first live radio play. Her work is characterized by a humorous take on the well-known protagonists from the pen of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. She is a long-standing member of the German Sherlock Holmes Society.

The live radio play

If you close your eyes, you hear a radio play - but if you open them, you not only get an insight into radio play production but also experience a very special art form on stage. On stage are the narrators on the one hand and a foley artist and a musician on the other, allowing the audience to participate in the creation of a radio play.
