The FM radio format has presented a clean channel of unidirectional communication since its inception. In contemporary India, with the cheapest broadband rates in the world, radio is the meta-icon of a bygone era, blending ideological indoctrination with nostalgic melodies from a purer past to assert an ascendant present and a glorious future. Using radio waves to produce an intimate space, Akashvani undertakes an acoustic autopsy of the state radioscape that explores meaning in an algorithm-driven reality. Dissected and transformed into a disquieting auditory experience, the channel's calm presentation of ideals becomes a rabid discharge of information. This version of the public radio broadcaster Akashvani serves as an autonomous shadow of India's socio-political narratives, exposing the chaotic undercurrents of control and conformity.
