Helge Letonja & Of Curious Nature: Nomada

PICK OF THE DAY
You cannot miss this event.
In the organizer's words:

About the content of the play:

Nomada is the intangible, the one who has long since folded her tents, the one who upsets you. Her life force springs from fire. If you try to locate her, a whirlwind of data particles will engulf you. She moves along winding paths as an archaic striding body and disembodied in the digital world, effortlessly switching between environments.

Nomada emerges between dancing bodies, ancient myths and videographic images, allowing seemingly immovable opposites to collide. In the face of nature under pressure and human confusion through engaging artificial intelligence, it laughs at the approaching changes, seizes every chance to escape, meets you in a dream and emerges from the ashes where you sit, weeping for every dying species.

The Ensemble Of Curious Nature seeks physical approaches to the themes of migration and transformation. In collaboration with filmmaker Isabel Robson and composer Miguel Marin, choreographer Helge Letonja and the dancers explore the lives and mindsets of nomads. Characterized by the intensive interactions with their living spaces, connections between these lifestyles and the present become clear and at the same time point to collective voids.

About the artists:

Helge Letonja choreographer and artistic director of steptext dance project and the dance company Of Curious Nature, has created more than 50 dance works presented worldwide, often realized in interdisciplinary and transcultural collaborations. As a choreographer, Letonja creates vital areas of friction and vibrant symbols that reflect social conditions and processes and combine the emotional and mental movements of individual and social bodies with metaphorical contexts. In his works with Of Curious Nature, he deepens the artistic forms of expression to draw the complexity of contemporary man in dynamic, powerful ensemble pieces. In addition, Helge Letonja is a tireless advocate for the interests of dance, both in his adopted home of Bremen and nationwide, as a board member of the Dachverband Tanz, and is committed to strengthening and communicating the art of dance in a variety of collaborations. In this way, he opens up dance as a mediator of cultural diversity, social participation, interdisciplinary art and research.
