HANNES WITTMER

In the organizer's words:

It has now been several years since Hannes Wittmer dropped his alter ego "Spaceman Spiff", under which he played hundreds of concerts, released three albums and developed from an insider tip to one of the most popular German-language singer-songwriters between 2008 and 2018. Not only the name has changed with this step, but also the way in which the Würzburg musician interprets his profession alongside playing concerts and writing songs.

His blog contains numerous texts about his experiences of trying to stay out of a constantly growing world, instead shrinking healthily and working on a donation basis. In his podcast "Was tun(?)", he talks to his guests (including Marcus Wiebusch, Judith Holofernes and, most recently, an activist from the last generation) about his own helplessness, often excessive demands, in a time of crisis and the search for possible courses of action. This attitude is also reflected in his poetic lyrics, which have always raised at least as many questions as they attempt to answer.

In 2021, things went quiet for the musician. The feat of strength of recent years had left its mark and he was overtaken by depression, which these days seems to be as ubiquitous as if it were distributed with drinking water. As a result, he walked 500 kilometers through France, lived in Lyon for a few months and gradually found his way back to the surface. New music was also created during this time. Now he is back on stage to play it for us.
