Anthology for the CDF anniversary year presented by Anne Martin, Dirk Uwe Hansen, Everest Girard and Tobias Reußwig
Caspar David Friedrich's 250th birthday - definitely a reason to celebrate, but also reason enough to take a fresh look at icons of Romanticism such as the "Monk by the Sea" and the "Chalk Cliffs on Rügen" - not to mention the "Eldena Monastery Ruins". And to react to them.
We therefore asked contemporary poets to do just that and write poems for, against or with Caspar David Friedrich's paintings; this volume brings together a selection of the diverse texts that emerged.
The graphics for the design of the book are woodcuts that were produced at the Caspar David Friedrich Institute in Greifswald to accompany works by and texts about Friedrich. The students worked there in the graphic workshops under the direction of Nils Dicaz.
