With songs such as "Sound of Silence" and "Bridge over Troubled Water", the US duo Simon & Garfunkel created poetic anthems for an entire generation and went down in music history with "The Boxer" and "Bridge over Troubled Water" at the latest.
For some years now, the duo Graceland have been intensively tracing the musical spirit of their role models with "A Tribute to Simon and Garfunkel". Always with the necessary respect for the great compositions and the aspiration to offer musically high-quality interpretations of Simon & Garfunkel's world hits. One thing is particularly important to the two musicians from Bretten: "We don't want to be a copy, not visually, not even vocally. We always stay close to the original, but also give the compositions our own touch."
And so Thomas Wacker (Paul Simon) and Thorsten Gary (Art Garfunkel) prove impressively with their current project: the classics of probably the most successful folk rock duo in the world harmonize perfectly with the sound of a string ensemble. The interplay of the two voices and two guitars with the classical instruments turns the songs of Simon & Garfunkel into an extraordinary musical experience.
The number of concert visitors speaks for itself: the two musicians have been successfully touring Europe for years. Sometimes as a duo, sometimes with a classical string quartet and a few times a year even with a 52-piece orchestra. At their concerts, they roam through the soulful songs and "rock" their audience elsewhere.
An evening with Graceland is therefore not just for nostalgics who like to get their old records or CDs off the shelf. The timelessly good music of Simon & Garfunkel, interpreted by outstanding musicians with their very own sound, appeals to music lovers of all ages.
