In summer, the yellow and blue fist will once again be seen above the stage when Gogol Bordello storm through our clubs again.

After all, the band led by actor, singer, guitarist, frontman and chief ideologue Eugene Hütz is not only one of the most powerful party bands on the planet, but is also politically active. What's more, the actor, singer, guitarist, frontman and chief ideologist has both Ukrainian and Russian roots and expresses his anger, sadness and hope regarding the war in Ukraine and the general state of the world through his music.

He explains the title of the latest album from 2022 as follows: "'Solidaritine' is the substance that unleashes our compassion and our full human potential. I suppose it's a brother of adrenaline. Or at least it rhymes with it. So turn your adrenaline into 'Solidaritine' and let's go! May this be your punky uplift for our troubled times."

Indeed, the record is the most aggressive, loudest and most direct from the musicians' collective in a long time, and for good reason. And that's saying something for this wild, intercontinental horde, who have been shaking up the world with their inimitable blend of raw punk and Eastern European gypsy swing since 1999. Without ever losing sight of their goal despite all their energy: Only perseverance and solidarity will carry us through the most turbulent, traumatic and difficult times. When all hope seems lost, it shines from within like a light that cannot be extinguished.

The rbb editor also experienced the overwhelming effect when the band takes over the evening during his visit to the last Berlin concert: "Seven to eleven people are on stage at the same time, and nobody stands still. The music sounds like a folk festival in the Balkans, but then like a New York punk cellar, a drunken festival atmosphere and stoned dub beats. It is this mixture of the greatest possible danceability, mixed with loudness, coarseness and speed that drives people crazy.
