Ghost Funk Orchestra is the brainchild of composer and multi-instrumentalist Seth Applebaum. What began as a one-man recording project has now developed into a powerful live band. The Ghost Funk Orchestra is a sonic kaleidoscope that cannot be pinned down to one particular genre, but has strong influences from the world of soul, psych-rock, salsa and other genres. Their unique blend of genres has been praised by NPR, Bandcamp, KUTX, Brooklyn Vegan, Earmilk and many others. Over the years, they have had the honor of sharing the stage with artists such as Os Mutantes, Grace Potter, Marco Benevento, La Luz, Monophonics, The Nude Party, and The Jack Moves, and playing at such legendary festivals as Montreal Jazz, Treefort, Telluride Jazz, Otis Mountain Get Down, and BRIC's NYC Winter Jazz.

The New York blog "Post-Trash" described their sound as a "psych odyssey of traditional sounds performed in an unconventional way". The editorial director of Bandcamp, J. Edward Keyes, praised the band's ability to "leave no funk-affine genre unexplored.
