Gemeinsam lesen mit Shared Reading

In the organizer's words:

If possible, please register at anmeldung@karlstorbahnhof.de.

The idea of SHARED READING, which originated in England, is based on the simple but powerful idea of letting words work on you - across all cultural, social and age boundaries.

Trained reading guides accompany the so-called shared reading sessions, in which the participants can exchange and meet each other about what they have read and heard. Those who listen are already part of it.

Shared Reading is neither therapy nor a book club or ambitious literature circle, but a method of experiencing the beneficial effects of literature, texts and words in an atmosphere of relaxed openness.

How it works: People come together in a protected space for around 90 minutes to read world literature - a story and a poem - aloud together. They pause to reflect and talk about what they have read and its impact. No prior knowledge is necessary, everyone can take part and admission is free.

The groups are led by volunteer reading leaders. They select the texts, bring them along for everyone and accompany the resulting discussions.
