FUSSBALLKULTUR – Denk ich an dich, Europa - Pubcrawl zur Kunst mit den Macherinnen und den KünstlerInnen

In the organizer's words:

10 restaurants, 9 artists, 6 fan shrines: On the occasion of EURO 2024, this special exhibition project focuses on the unifying power of soccer and art. And it takes place where everyone comes together: in ten Dortmund pubs of very different kinds.

Soccer fans from the region have made their personal memorabilia available and are telling us their stories. These cult objects are presented in specially designed "shrines".

In addition, there are nine works by regional and international artists who have explicitly dealt with the topic of soccer culture: Old sports grounds are given new life, fan anthems are specially composed, hacks are designed to make women in sport more visible, digital surveillance instruments become a vehicle for contemporary photography, David Beckham cleans up for his career and oversized pennants and queer flags show us new and old connections. After the game is before the game and so although soccer comes first, each side has two medals: Art conquers its place, it dissects until the individual parts come together again and passes us the balls. It shows us: Every story is important - it turns soccer into cult(ure).
