The EL-DE House was the headquarters of the Cologne Gestapo. The 1,800 inscriptions in the basement prison provide impressive evidence of the suffering of the prisoners. Our guided tour shows girls and women as the persecuted and marginalized. Followers and perpetrators, but also opposition activists and women in the resistance are presented. For example, you will get to know the socialist Henriette Ackermann, one of the few women on Cologne's city council who fought for her goals and was imprisoned in a concentration camp several times. The women's rights activist Else Falk is also introduced: As co-chair of the Cologne Women's Association, she had to resign early on because she was Jewish.

The "Gleichschaltung" of the women's movement, the racist persecution and extermination of women who were persecuted as Jewish or who were ill, and the exploitation of forced laborers are also topics of this tour.
