Letter carrier Walter is transferred to the undeliverable mail department: to the Christkind branch in Engelskirchen. There he receives a letter to the good Lord: 10-year-old Ben wants to know how to call a plumber. Ben is unhappy with God's vague answer. The two write back and forth. Walter finds out more about the boy who runs the household for his depressed mother. What Ben wants most of all is a friend. Walter, on the other hand, is preoccupied with his own family drama. But maybe Walter can help Ben - and Ben Walter?

Andreas Izquierdo, born in 1968, has published books including "Apocalypsia", the Sir Walter Scott Prize-winning novel "King of Albania" and the bestseller "Der Club der Traumtänzer". He lives in Cologne.
