FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT Festival 2024

In the organizer's words:

On November 16, 2024, CABUWAZI Tempelhof will once again open its doors for the FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT Festival! Since 2017, the festival has stood for artistic exploration of topics such as freedom of movement, flight and arrival. Art and social realities merge on the historic Tempelhof airport site, which provides a temporary home for around 5,000 refugees.

Artistic highlights

This year's program sheds light from different perspectives on what it feels like to say goodbye, start anew and arrive.

14:00: "International Arrivals " - The youth group from CABUWAZI Tempelhof, consisting of over 20 young artists aged 14 to 21, will present a powerful mix of floor and aerial disciplines in this year's show. Characterized by cohesion and their diverse life stories, they bring their experiences, especially on the subject of migration, to the stage with impressive dance acrobatics.

17:00: "VisÀ-vis " - In this CABUWAZI in-house production, 15 artists work together who came to Germany via different routes and have now come together at Tempelhof Cultural Airport. This highly symbolic location, characterized by emotions and power structures, serves as the central motif. The artists express their diverse perspectives of arrival through impressive artistic performances.

20:00: Open Stage - For the first time, artists from the CABUWAZI family present an open stage with solo, duo and group performances on the theme of freedom of movement. Eight selected circus performances offer an experimental and professional evening event curated by a jury of CABUWAZI Tempelhof employees and participants.

Music and party at the end

The politically committed band Antinational Embassy will provide the musical backdrop for the evening, inviting you to celebrate with reggae and hip-hop rhythms from 21:30.

Tickets for the two shows and the Open Stage will be available from October 7. Day tickets can also be purchased. There are flexible price categories so that everyone can take part in the festival. You can find the entire program here.

In 2024, the festival will take place as part of Zeit für Zirkus. Zeit für Zirkus is a Germany-wide festival for contemporary circus and includes performances, premieres, workshops, exchange formats, parties, online formats and much more!

Price information:

➡️Kinder up to 12 years have Free admission. ➡️5 Euro for single show / 10 Euro for day ticket: You are a pupil, student or have little money to spend on cultural events. ➡️9 Euro for single show / 15 Euro for day ticket: You earn your own money and the entrance fee does not cause you any stomach ache. ➡️15 Euro for a single show / 20 Euro for a day ticket: You would like to support us over and above the normal admission price and donate 3 Euro from your day ticket so that people with fewer means can also attend the festival.
