Frank Spilker: »Ich scheiß auf deutsche Texte«

Frank Spilker and his band Die Sterne have shaped the local (underground) pop scene like few others in recent decades. In the early 1990s, he revolutionized songwriting with his lyrics and also the way lyrics are perceived in this country. Each of the now dozen or so Sterne albums captivates not only with its music, but equally with Spilker's lyrics, appealing (and still appealing) to music fans, hermeneutics, MTV viewers and feature writers alike.
Every lyricist hopes, at least secretly, to find a new language of their own. Spilker has succeeded. "Ich scheiß auf deutsche Texte" contains over 100 of Spilker's texts. From the first songs released on cassette by the Bad Salzuflen cult label "Fast Weltweit" in the mid-1980s to the last Sterne album "Hallo Euphoria" released in 2022.

At his reading, Frank Spilker will read from the book published by Ventil Verlag in 2023 and explain and musically comment on his lyrics.
