The documentary "Johanna Seligmann-Coppel - A Life for the Family" will once again be screened at Villa Seligmann with Free admission.

The movie

To mark Johanna Seligmann-Coppel's 160th birthday, her great-granddaughter Andrea Rey-Suter , with the support of her descendants in Switzerland, Argentina, Mexico and Germany, embarked on a very personal encounter with her great-grandmother's story. Together with the Austrian filmmaker Helmut Wimmer , she followed in Johanna's footsteps and sought out people who contributed to the reconstruction of this personal portrait with their stories.

This "cinematic" search for traces provides unique insights into the life of Johanna Seligmann-Coppel, the former landlady of Villa Seligmann, and her descendants. She was the daughter of honorary Solingen citizen and industrial magnate Gustav Coppel and wife of Continental factory director Siegmund Seligmann. In the last years of her life, Johanna Seligmann, as a Jew, had to follow the catastrophic effects of Nazi rule from exile in Switzerland. Full of concern for her family left behind in Germany, Johanna Seligmann-Coppel then made a desperate attempt to save her granddaughters in 1943...
