Since 2005, the FilmGalerie has been pursuing the goal of creating a reliable venue for film as an independent art genre in the LWL Museum of Art and Culture. The aim is to bring the diversity and quality of cinematic imagery closer to a wide audience.

In the current season, the FilmGalerie honors the acting skills of Cate Blanchett, whose complexity and versatility make her one of the greatest actresses. In ELIZABETH she shows royal self-assertion, while in BLUE JASMINE she embodies the fallen diva. In BERNADETTE she portrays inner isolation, as the star conductor Lydia TÁR she is a goddess in free fall, and in CAROL she plays an unconditionally loving person on the social precipice.
