You squeeze my hand when the steps start. We dance after the hospital calls. You lead me, hands holding, are we on a date after all? I say thank you and you just ask, "For what?" Intimacy is the elusive feeling of warmth, eroticism, vulnerability or gentleness that can be familiar and uncomfortable at the same time. With With Or Without You , the disabled dancers Fia Neises and Irene Giró invite us into spaces of 'Access Intimacy', based on the concept of the disabled and queer author and activist of color Mia Mingus. Suspended from the air with two vertical silks, the dancers disrupt visual, auditory and temporal habits and give themselves over to the illusion of independence while suspended in the air. Accompanied by musician Jana Sotzko, they share stories of ambivalence and intimacy in Assistenz. Anyone who wants to can become an active part of it, or enjoy watching.
