In the photo exhibition Excellent Footwork, the TMD Theatermuseum Hofgartenhaus Düsseldorf is showing photos of soccer and ballet. In keeping with UEFA EURO 2024™, duels meet pas de deux: what do they have to do with each other? Both in dance and on the pitch, top athletic performances are achieved with movements based on the skillful use of the feet.
When photographing players and dancers in motion, you need a good feel for the "perfect moment". At the same time, when capturing this "perfect moment", various aspects have to be just right: the framing, the distance and much more. If you miss the moment, you're out of luck. Excellent Foot work is dedicated to this special art of photographers to capture ballet and soccer in pictures.
For Exzellente Fußarbeit, two important teams from the state capital come together: Ballett am Rhein meets Fortuna Düsseldorf. In addition to photos of scenes, matches, training sessions and rehearsals, the exhibition presents selected costumes, items of clothing, costume designs, puppets from the Düsseldorf Marionette Theater and objects from the Fortuna archive.
