Erinnern heißt kämpfen – Kein Schlussstrich unter unsere Stimmen

In the organizer's words:

READING I Unrast Verlag

With GAMZE KUBAŞIK & ALI ŞIRIN

For decades, survivors and relatives of victims of right-wing, racist and anti-Semitic violence have been campaigning against forgetting and against the ignorance of right-wing violent crimes in Germany. Their commitment has many things in common: They uphold remembrance, show solidarity, demand clarification and consequences. They talk about how victims and those affected were treated like defendants after attacks. They were founded in reaction to passive state authorities or active attempts at cover-up and create space for self-empowerment.

And above all: they demand clarification. Because without their intervention, the murder of Oury Jalloh, the death of Amed Ahmad and others would have been forgotten. They show relatives and those affected that they are not alone - and make the frightening continuity of racism in Germany visible. Racist riots, attacks and murders have been repeated for decades. The NSU complex remains unsolved. The terrorist attacks in Halle in 2019 and Hanau in 2020; the danger of prepper groups hoarding weapons and ammunition; the racist attacks in Berlin-Neukölln that have been going on for years... these are just the tip of the iceberg that shows the danger posed by right-wing perpetrators of violence.

The event is organized in cooperation with "Offener Prozess - ein Dokumentationszentrum zum NSU-Komplex".
