Venice around 1800: In an old music school for destitute girls, the "mute" Teresa discovers a beautiful instrument in the storeroom: a brand new, but also sinister invention - a pianoforte. While everything in the college revolves around the upcoming visit of the newly enthroned pope, an extraordinary quartet of young women gathers around Teresa and the revolutionary "music machine". These musicians are a source of great, but deliberately overlooked talent. Against the will of the bandleader, they develop their own vision of music, a revolutionary, feminine sound, inspired by their world, their feelings, the rhythm of their being. GLORIA! is an impetuous cinematic symphony that celebrates the unleashing of female creativity as well as the emergence of modern romantic pop music. A rousing directorial debut that pays tribute to all the many forgotten female composers.
