In the organizer's words:

Endometriosis affects millions of people with uteruses - and yet the chronic disease often remains undetected and underestimated. It takes an average of eight years before a correct diagnosis is made, while those affected struggle with severe pain, social taboos and a lack of medical recognition. Why is this the case? And what needs to change?

We cordially invite you to an open and important panel discussion in which we bring together personal experiences, scientific insights and social perspectives on endometriosis. Our guests will talk about their own journey with the condition, how they deal with symptoms and how we can provide better support as a society and in the healthcare system.

Our panel guests:

Vanessa - social worker and affected herself. After years of searching for an effective treatment and several operations, she has been running an online discussion group for endometriosis sufferers since 2022 (currently in French). Sophie - Sociologist and health advisor at the Feminist Women's Health Center Berlin. She gives an insight into the most common questions and challenges that those affected turn to her with. Jasmin - Photographer and videographer from Munich. In her current project "Endometriosis - the chameleon in my belly", she makes the invisible challenges of endometriosis sufferers visible. Some of her images will be presented during the discussion. Moderation: Shaghayegh - artist and activist at Bellevue di Monaco. In her work, she campaigns for equal rights and post-migrant perspectives; she is also affected.

Topics of discussion: Personal stories and experiences with endometriosis, dealing with symptoms and one's own physical and mental health, social perception, medical care and necessary changes, perspectives from counseling, art and community work

The Munich endogroup will also be offering an information stand with extensive educational material. It supports those affected in Munich through an active WhatsApp community and regular meetings online and on site.
