Opening of the 11th edition of EMOP Berlin and the exhibitions
what stands between us. Photography as a medium of chronicle
A village 1955-2022. Ute Mahler, Werner Mahler and Ludwig Schirmer
Greetings
Introduction to the festival and the exhibitions by Maren Lübbke-Tidow, Artistic Director of EMOP Berlin 2025 and curator of the central festival exhibition, and Johanna M. Keller, Program Officer of the Akademie der Künste in conversation with Marit Lena Herrmann, curator, and the photographers Ute Mahler and Werner Mahler.
Inner City | Sound, image and live texts by Paul Hutchinson
As part of the opening ceremony of EMOP Berlin 2025 at the Akademie der Künste, Paul Hutchinson will give an insight into his current work in a live presentation specially conceived for the evening by bringing together moving images, sound and photographic works in a performative reading. The artist, who is known for his investigations into urban life and whose practice addresses issues of class, social injustice and inner-city culture, invites us on an audiovisual excursion that includes both recent and unpublished works and texts.
Followed by a get-together with DJ set
Bandidas, queer DJ duo from Berlin. Their musical home lies in the exciting field of tension between house and tropical sounds, weaving warm rhythms and pulsating beats into a unique experience.
Please note: The event will be photographed and filmed for documentation and public relations purposes.
