Hazal's most fervent wish: a chance in life. Despite countless applications, she is unable to find an apprenticeship. Instead, she encounters prejudice and is repeatedly told where she belongs. But on her 18th birthday, Hazal feels strong. She wants to go partying with her best friends in the hippest club in Berlin. They stand in line full of anticipation. But the bouncer turns them down. Hazal is once again shown that she doesn't belong. On the way home, they are also harassed by a pushy student. The situation escalates. Hazal flees head over heels to Istanbul, a brand new city in a country she doesn't know. There she must survive alone, whatever the cost.
"Elbow" tells the story of a young woman who is pushed out of the society that can only be hers. You want to run through the night with her, you want to know what will happen to her and to all of us. (Text: jip film & verleih)
