Marie is an architect and has fulfilled her dream of owning her own home in the countryside. She just needs to give birth to her first child quickly before she can get started with the expansion of the integrated co-working space for backpackers. Her husband Gerhart has devoted himself entirely to applied animal sociology and prefers to deal with the brood of the faintly spotted grasshopper rather than his own. While he is doing his doctorate instead of helping out and Marie's own thirst for action is getting the better of her, mother-in-law Erika advises her to be more relaxed - balancing career, child and relationship is just a question of willpower and the right remedial gymnastics. When the digital nomad Margarete moves in - all she needs to live is the Wi-Fi password - the couple suddenly find their own sedentary lifestyle boring.

Felicia Zeller's rewrite of Gerhart Hauptmann's classic "Lonely People" is devoid of any compassion and exposes the weepiness of the privileged - while taking aim at the academic milieu and old role models.
