Title: Dresden needs its culture!

Dresden stands for art and culture worldwide: Let's show our commitment to our cultural institutions!

The cultural institutions are prepared to make savings in order to support the difficult decisions required by the city council to balance the budget. However, the level of the planned cuts massively jeopardizes Dresden's reputation as a city of culture. Existing offerings would have to be cut, and urgent modernization and digitalization measures would fall by the wayside. For the people of Dresden, this means fewer concerts, museum visits, dance, drama, entertainment theater, fewer cultural experiences and encounters, fewer moments of respite from everyday life - in short, less quality of life. For children and young people, this means less space for education and artistic exchange outside of school. For Dresden as a whole, this means less appeal as a cultural metropolis and thus a weakened attractiveness as a location.

That is why we are calling for appropriate cultural funding:

- Strengthen cultural education for the development of young people!
- Secure the future of (further) education in the arts!
- Invest in culture as a driver for tourism, gastronomy and the creative industries!
- Experience diversity! - Education and identity-building for all in museums!
- Create theater and leisure activities for all children, young people and families!
- Maintain school libraries!
- Create exhibition experiences instead of empty museum spaces!
- Enable world-class music in world-class concert halls for everyone!
- Secure world-class entertainment theater at a unique traditional venue!
- Connect international top-class dance and music ensembles with local scenes in Dresden!
- Internationality and firm anchoring in the city society must not be jeopardized!
- Expand digitalization - preserve Dresden's cultural memory for all generations and make it accessible!

Dresden needs its culture! Support our appeal to the Dresden City Council for adequate cultural funding in the Dresden budget!
