The Australian punk rock band comes to Germany for two concerts with their new album

Dune Rats ' career is based on the fact that two stoner friends decided to make a lot of punk together. Their "no-nonsense, all-fun" attitude and their incomparably laid-back sound, which is a mix of rowdy punk, stoner-infused alternative rock, modern pop-punk and sleepy grunge, quickly made them role models for an entire scene in their native Australia. Dune Rats finally made their breakthrough in 2017 with their second album "The Kids Will Know It's Bullshit". Thanks to songs like "Scott Green" and "Bullshit" , they reached number 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart for the first time and were able to confirm this success with both their third album "Hurry Up And Wait" (2020) and their fourth album "Real RareWhale" (2022), both of which also reached number 1. Their current album "If It Sucks, Turn It Up" has already earned Dune Rats a nomination at the ARIA Music Awards for the third time, where the album could be honored as "Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album". In February 2025, Dune Rats will be coming to Leipzig and Munich for one concert each.

Founded in 2010 as a duo by Danny Beus (guitar and vocals) and BC Michael Marks (drums and backing vocals), Dune Rats were completed by Brett Jansch (bass). The trio released their first single "Colour Television" in 2010, pointing to their debut EP "Sexy Beach", which was released in February 2011. The EP "Social Atoms" followed in September of the same year. "Smile", the band's third and last EP to date, was released in 2013, after which they founded the Ratbag Records label and released their debut album "Dune Rats" in 2014. Their playful sound with rocking fuzz guitars and dreamy choruses turned songs such as "Dalai Lama", "Funny Guy" and "Lola"into their first hits with their conciseness and increased the band's popularity in Australia. Dune Rats achieved their national breakthrough in 2017 with their second full-length album. "The Kids Will Know It's Bullshit" took the trio to the top of the domestic charts and made them famous beyond Australia. In 2020, Dune Rats released the standalone single "Too Tough Terry" and their third album "Hurry Up And Wait" via their own label and signed with BMG. With a more modern approach than before, songs such as "No Plan" and "Crazy" feature straightforward pop-punk influences. With new influences in their music, the album "Real Rare Whale" followed in 2022, which stood out with new influences. Dune Rats themselves described their fourth album as their fastest, funniest and craziest work, expressing a love of music and songwriting with influences from noise rock and skate punk, but sounding like the band's unique sound throughout.

The current album "If It Sucks, Turn It Up" also builds on this sound. Released in August 2024, Dune Rats impress with their usual catchy hooks and a modern production that combines danceable beats, influences from wave, surf rock and psychedelic on the song "Be Like You" and offers a good dose of Australian nonchalance with a party-ready drive.
