Sleeping Beauty - pure classic fairytale ballet!
This ballet classic has been delighting young and old alike for more than 100 years. With grace, beauty and elegance, with incredible lightness and the highest technical precision, the audience is whisked away into a fairytale world.
Graceful fairy godmothers, the beautiful Princess Aurora, who has fallen into a hundred-year sleep in an enchanted forest of thorns, Little Red Riding Hood with the wolf, Puss in Boots, the Blue Bird - in unsurpassed graceful choreographies, the fantastic creatures of the fairytale world conquer the stage in Tchaikovsky's masterpiece.
The ballet "Sleeping Beauty" is considered the most successful of all ballets from the great Tsarist era. Tchaikovsky considered "Sleeping Beauty" to be his best ballet.
The collaboration of two such extraordinarily creative forces as the choreographer Marius Petipa and the composer Peter I. Tchaikovsky produced a ballet that is completely consistent in all its parts, something that had not been seen on the Russian stage for a long time.
The story takes the audience into a magical realm where goodness and beauty reign, and to which one always wants to return, even as an adult. The fascinating splendor of the stage set and 300 costumes, the fairy-tale plot, the music and the dance complete the vital work full of romance and make the ballet performance a real feast.
The plot... Fairies are invited to Princess Aurora's christening and endow their godchild with every conceivable good ability. Only the evil fairy Carabosse has not received an invitation and is furious: Aurora will prick herself on a spindle on her 16th birthday and drop dead. The Lilac Fairy, who fortunately has not yet made her good wish, intervenes: She manages to soften the curse so that the child will not die, but will only fall into a deep, long sleep that only the kiss of true love can lift. All the measures taken in the kingdom to protect the child prove futile, because it happens exactly as predicted: the sting, the sleep, but also the awakening, brought about by the redeeming kiss ...
"...Dances of incredible lightness and the highest technical precision credibly convey a little story for which there is hardly an equivalent in the real world and this is probably the real secret of classical ballet..."
For young and old alike, it is a welcome opportunity to experience the unique perfection of ballet and to find effortless access to the magical world of ballet.
Each scene is illustrated by a narrative, so that even the youngest members of the audience can follow the danced scenes and the ballet storyline.
