Doris macht Blau Zession mit Folkwang Jazz & dem Jugendjazzorchester der Schweiz

In preparation for the big concert of the Swiss Youth Jazz Orchestra at domicil on Wednesday 12.03., we invite you to get to know each other and jam together at Oma Doris in cooperation with the Folkwang UdK jazz studies program and Bunt oder Blau.
The evening will be opened by Folkwang jazz students and an ensemble consisting of musicians from the Youth Jazz Orchestra in a relay race. Each band will play a short set and [nbsp]then an informal open stage free for all! All musicians welcome! All levels welcome!

The Simon Kuhn Quartett feat. Mattia Belz will perform for the Folkwang.

The quartet combines influences ranging from post bop and modern jazz to neo-classical music.
The line-up offers a variety of timbres to showcase the band members' compositions in both edgy and spherical ways.
The Dörkenstiftung award-winning band will be joined on this evening by Mattia Belz and other guests from the Swiss Youth Jazz Orchestra.

The second band is a "Small Combo" cast of musicians from the ranks of the Jugend Jazzorchester der Schweiz.

The JJO brings together highly talented young musicians from all over Switzerland and offers them a platform to make music together.
Their album "Kuh auf dem Eis" is already 3 years old and after the last motto "1,5° mal gerade sein lassen" (1.5° let's be straight) has become internationally accepted, they are now making their way from Bern to Oslo and back under the motto "1,5° Manche mögen's HEISS" (1.5° Some like it HOT).
The artistic directors are the two Westphalian musicians Benjamin Weidekamp and Michael Haves, who have been working together for a quarter of a century.
Among them are the bands (Olaf Ton, Stereo Lisa, Filter Bubble and Brigade Futur III).
Together with over 20 young Swiss musicians, they are tackling the questions and challenges of our time. As the anniversary year is also the farewell to the current dual leadership, this year's program consists of the greatest hits of the last 6 years.

The pieces deal with a corporation on a therapist's couch, Waltraud, Emil's rich sister, the confessions of an economic killer, everyday life at the supermarket checkout and the fairy tale of green growth on a planet with finite resources.
And [nbsp]of course the eternal question: shouldn't you do something decent after all?

The stage is set to music, which all too often gets stuck in the throat as a lump in everyday life. They tell stories that reflect their personal dilemmas and conflicts without threatening to lecture with a moralizing finger. In doing so, they reflect nothing less than the state of the world, the excesses of capitalism and, above all, the opportunities for each individual to get involved in the discourse.
