The internationally acclaimed hip-hop crew Dope D.O.D. from the Netherlands with roots in Africa and England consists of the rappers Skits Vicious and Jay Reaper. Known for their punchlines on a thorny bed of aggressive beats (and even darker lyrics), they combine classic boom hip hop with dubstep, drum'n'bass and EDM, which has led to interesting co-ops with Noisia, The Prodigy, Mefjus, The Teddy Killerz, Black Sun Empire and Apashe, to name but a few. Nothing that was whispered into the cradle of a rap combo from G-Town Groningen. But it's only logical when you look at the three guys between B-Boy neurosis, pyschotic hooligan looks and Skrillex undercuts. They are joined on the turntables by Dr Diggles. A must for friends of bass music of all kinds and dark hip-hop anyway, but quarter drunks and open-minded metalheads might also feel picked up here: "I'm a demon on the loose / Your neck in my noose / Niggas tried to kill the GOAT / Now I'mma kill the goose / Screws loose I just shoot / Booze choose Grey Goose / Move, move or get boot / Salute my troops and get loot", to quote their 2016 album "Acid Trap". Needless to say, D.O.D. stands for "Duo of Doom". Incidentally, their latest album is called "The Whole Planet Shifted" - who would disagree?
