DJs. Yuriy Gurzhy, Karacho Rabaukin
Balkan Beats, Eastern Ska, Polka Punk, Romani Sounds, Klezmer, Swing, Ukrainian Songs
(english below)
The universal cultural worker YURIY GURZHY will be gracing us on the turntables in January. He works tirelessly on behalf of Ukrainian and Jewish (music) culture in particular. Starting out as a musician, producer and DJ, he is now also an author, columnist (Ukrainian war diary), theater maker and publisher of numerous music compilations celebrating the music of Ukraine and Eastern Europe. His band Rotfront is currently dormant, but new band projects such as Fokstroty with the famous Kharkiv musician and author Serhij Zhadan are calling Yuriy back to the stages of this country. Collaborations with Shantel, Amsterdam Klezmer Band, Orchestre International du Vetex, Uros Petkovic (Shazalakazoo), Frank London, Daniel Kahn and Marina Frenk or Lemez Lovas (OiVaVoi) and Wladimir Kaminer, among others, testify to his musical passions and good networking in the (Eastern) European music scene.
And he will share this passion with us and draw us onto the dance floor. He celebrates the music scene of his native country with us, walks the paths of the rich history of klezmer, and always mixes a dash of reggae and offbeats into the Eastern European folklore. And he also has Ukrainian, more electronic music with him: Chornobayivka Beat & Bavovna Electro.

DJ and host KARACHO RABAUKIN also lets it rip with wedding fanfare from the Balkans. She mixes ska with folk sounds from Eastern Europe, polka punk from the Carpathians, klezmer and swing stomper from the last century, Romano hip hop and Romani sounds from the new millennium, Arabic beats with dancehall in the guise of Balkan pop. Melodies between joie de vivre and melancholy, vodka-soaked dance beats between ecstasy and tight dance, kolo and circle dance. Hands in the air, feet off the floor. Hejde and grandpa. This is Diskoteka Balkanska together with you!
