Prince Tamino falls in love with the image of Pamina, the daughter of the Queen of the Night, who then commissions the prince to free her daughter from the clutches of her adversary Sarastro. Together with his friend Papageno, Tamino sets off in search of his beloved and, with the help of a glockenspiel and a magic flute, embarks on dangerous adventures in the infinite expanse of space.
The cult production of one of the most-performed operas of all time, which was first seen at the Gemeinschaftsstheater in the 2018/2019 season, is finally returning to the stage of the Krefeld Theater after five years.

Kobie van Rensburg's science fiction concept combines the extensive Magic Flute cast with well-known characters from fantasy cinema, making it a hit with audiences young and old. Star Wars fans will get their money's worth and have fun with the wealth of allusions. But this unique magic flute also remains understandable and entertaining for fantasy laymen. The video technology used - computer-generated environmental images instead of a built stage set and a live camera with blue screen technology for the performers - is used congenially in Mozart's masterpiece about the dark and light powers in the sevenfold solar circle and transforms the opera stage into an intergalactic, magical place.
