Her daughter needs a prince, claims the Queen of the Night, to persuade Tamino to free Pamina from the clutches of the alleged villain Sarastro. And so, together with the bird catcher Papageno, Tamino sets out to become a hero. But many surprises await him on his adventurous rescue mission...

Barrie Kosky's multimedia production of "The Magic Flute," which the director developed in 2012 together with the British artists' collective "1927," has long enjoyed cult status around the world. The imaginative interplay of scene, music and the richly detailed video animation elegantly transfers Mozart's most famous opera into the present.
