Die Spur des Anderen – Der Künstlerin Edith Tar zum 80.

In May 2024, the artist and photographer Edith Tar (1944-2021) would have turned 80 years old.Exactly 35 years to the day before this event, on 8. November 1989, Edith Tar and Radjo Monk at the border between Czechoslovakia and West Germany, which had become unpredictably porous. With cameras and tape recorders, they collected testimonies from people from the GDR who left their entire lives, friends and families behind. This resulted in the series and exhibition "The Day before the Fall of the Wall", which the artist couple conceived together in 2020. The two have worked together on numerous projects since 1986.

In May 2021, Edith Tar died suddenly just a few days before her 77th birthday. The exhibition was organized in 2021 by Radjo Monk together with Edith's son Les Tar realized.

This event commemorates the artist and provides insights into her multifaceted work. Works and film excerpts will be shown and references to the present will be made.
