Die etwas andere Tour: Packrafting am Polarkreis

As part of our tapir WeltWeit event series, we invite you to this varied and entertaining picture presentation with an extra portion of anticipation. Packrafting has been here before and can finally come back!

Willi Zowalla has long been drawn to the outdoors, preferably to remote places where he feels he is one of the few people to have ever set foot on this part of the world. Even though the Norwegian Arctic Circle is no longer a blank spot on the map, this region still offers a number of unexplored adventures in addition to its scenic attractions.

In Willi's case, the adventure came in the form of previously untraveled river sections in northern Norway's Sjaltfjället & Svartisen National Park, which he crossed on an expedition in July 2024. Untraveled because these river pearls are hidden far away from any logistics in the Norwegian fells and can only be reached on foot over several days' hike. A classic packrafting expedition and an absolute paddling dream on the edge of Europe. Willi was able to experience the Arctic Circle in a completely different way to how many people imagine it and enjoyed the endless expanse, gigantic waterfalls, fantastic camps and the finest technical white water.
